Spirit Festival Byron Bay

Held in beautiful Mullumbimby, this year’s Byron Spirit Festival is held between the 17th – 19th Februrary 2012. It is described a being “a revolutionary event that unifies the worlds of Yoga, Tantra, Music and Dance in celebration and gratitude of ones awakening into a deep loving connection with oneself and our community”. There is a full weekend of workshops and events plus concerts in the evening.

There will be local, national and international teachers, performers, healers, mentors & friends that will be sharing their knowledge and visions in the forms of yoga, kirtan, conscious dance, tantra, healing and music. The theme of the weekend is  “Truth is one, paths are many”and the focus is on sustainability and strengthening community bonds. Finally, there will be a chai and food tent (any local event would’nt be the same without one!) where there will also be live music, enlivening discussions and group meditations.

The Con Artists Markets, Lismore

The Con Artists Handmade Makers Market is a craft market featuring local artists in conjunction with the Northern Rivers Conservatorium’s monthly Concerts.

The markets are held on the front lawn of the Conservatorium at the corner of Magellan and Keen Streets in Lismore, northern NSW on the first Saturday of each month from 11.00am.

The next con artists market is being held this Saturday 17th December, 11am-3pm. It’s the perfect place to find one-of-a-kind, handmade crafty gifts and treats for loved ones, family and friends.

There will be live local music at the concerts from 11am. BYO cushion!

Carols by the sea in Byron Bay

Carols by the sea is tomorrow, Friday 9th Dec 2011  at 6:30pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring along friends and family and get into the Christmas spirit and sing along to all the classic Christmas carols.

Bring a blanket, some nibbles and really enjoy these 2 hours of festivities. This is a free community event put on by the local Council, local churches and local businesses, who all love Christmas. Arts Trail – Time for some Christmas shopping!

Twenty three studios and galleries, of the Arts Trail on Byron Arts & Industrial Estate, will be keeping their doors open till late on Friday 2nd December for some Christmas shopping plus they will also be providing  exhibitions and entertainment and maybe even a cup of tea!

Bangalow Show this weekend

It’s all about horses this weekend at the Bangalow Show as the theme for this year is everything equine.

The event runs over Friday 19th & Saturday 20th November, with a numberof events  taking place. There will be working dog trials, horse competitions, sow ponies,  dairy cattle & dog judging, pet parades, a shopping relay, a rodeo plus much more! it is sure to be very entertaining and there will most definitely be something for everyone.

Mullum Music Festival 2011

The Mullum Music Festival is being held between Thursday 24th – Sunday 27th November. With over 8 venues and 100 performances it is sure to be an action packed 4 days.

What we love about this festival (apart from the great music) is that it is completely community focused. In 2010 they initiated the Youth Mentorship program and Tree Planting. Plus the Byron Region Community College on Gordon Street hosted workshops and films.

On the last day of the festival there will be a street parade from 11am, which is sure to be one of the highlights as it is alonside artists and performers.

Byron Latin Fiesta 2011

The Byron Latin Fiesta is coming to town for it’s 6th year. This year promises to be the best event yet and the 3 day event has already been extended to 4 days, with a pre-fiesta latin party & kisomba workshop on Thursday night plus a master class on Friday afternoon.

Then the fiesta really takes off with 3 nights of parties and 2 whole days of workshops. There will be live bands & performances from many dance schools including local Latin dance school, Wild Studio.

So if you love Byron Bay and you love latin dancing then this is the place to be!
